Around 66% of Nepal's total population is engaged in agribusiness sector. It contributes 33% of the country's gross domestic product with a major commitment to the public economy. It forms a diverse group of businesses and operates from farming to limited operations. Nepal is powerless against food shortages and recurring catastrophic events such as floods, droughts, avalanches, earthquakes, disease and nuisance events. The nation's agribusiness sector is still filled with farms that produce low efficiency and produce agricultural products.
FAO Nepal has been working in close coordination and cooperation with the public authorities of Nepal since 1977. System support, strengthening institutional boundaries and providing special assistance in the implementation of enterprises and projects in accordance with government procedures and requirements.
It centers around environmental recovery, transformation and relief activities against the effects of environmental change in horticulture and backwoods areas that empower cooperative energy and compromise between the two.
